Hoops For Hearts

On April 1st, 2016, the Line Mountain Middle School hosted the annual Hoops for Heart event.  Through the American Heart Association and the will of the student body, we managed to raise almost $4,000 to go towards individuals who suffer from heart disease and heart defects.  The top fundraiser in the school was Megan Ney who raised $535 over the course of a month.  Megan along with the following students Alana Martz, Abigail Hackenberg, Tyler Weikel, Jaiden Wendt, Dustin Baumert, Joanna Snyder, and Morgan Lesher, make up the top 8 fundraisers and are invited to attend a bowling field trip later this school year with the top participants from the elementary school who did a fantastic job with their fundraiser “Jump for Heart”.

The actual event on April 1st included a number of basketball activities and games in one gym that was lead by the Line Mountain Boys Basketball team.  In the other gym, the students participated in a “Knockout Heart Disease Tournament”, where we found the top knockout champion of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels.  The champions were Elizabeth Spieles (5th), Trent Steinhart (6th), Caden Lahr (7th), and Sam Snyder (8th).

Thank you to the teachers, students, parents and companies that supported the Hoops for Heart, American Heart Association, and fight against heart disease.
