Overview of the Line Mountain School District
 
     
 
The Line Mountain School District is classified as a rural school district. Our 154 square miles are comprised of nine townships and one borough as follows: Jackson, Jordan, Little Mahanoy, Lower Augusta, Lower Mahanoy, Upper Mahanoy, Washington, West Cameron, Zerbe and the Borough of Herndon.

The district population is approximately 9000 residents. Our student population of approximately 1300, grades K-4 through 12, is serviced by 102 teachers and 67 support staff.

Our elementary schools include Dalmatia Elementary School (kindergarten for four year olds through grade 6), Leck Kill Elementary School (kindergarten through grade 6) and Trevorton Elementary School (kindergarten for four year olds through grade 6). Line Mountain Jr/Sr High School includes grades 7 through 12. Class sizes in K-4 to grade 3 average around 16 students. The average class size in grade K-4 through 6 is 18 students. Class sizes in the jr/sr high school range from a low of 10 students to a high of 28 students.

Technology opportunities in the district are provided by computer labs in each of the elementary buildings and 4 computer centers at the jr/sr high school which includes a wireless lab. All buildings have internet accessibility.

A wide range of services are provided to special needs students with a focus on providing equal opportunities for all students.

There are a variety of extra-curricular activities including instrumental and choral music as well as service clubs and organizations. The school district participates in 13 PIAA sports.
